All of us have multiple goals to accomplish especially in the professional sphere as well as in our personal life. We create a wish list and promise ourselves that we will get them completed within a time frame.

However, when we get busy or overwhelmed with work, and the goal seems difficult, we postpone it for another day. many a time it is because we get busy with our office work and devote the entire time to complete the work, at times more. Also, we stop moving in the right direction as we have self-doubts about what we want to accomplish. Also, one is uncertain about where and how to begin.

To get over this stalemate, you could take a few actions, listed below, to get started in achieving the goals that you have set for yourself.

Hire an outside coach.

It is an accepted fact in sports that if you want to improve your skills in the sport you hire a coach. Again, companies hire an executive coach for promising employees to hone their various skills in management and get them ready for a higher job. However, when it comes to accomplishing a goal you have set for yourself we never think of having a coach.

A coach, especially an external one, helps create a structure to accomplish your goal, create momentum and hold you accountable for your actions. He is divorced from your daily office work and is capable of taking an impartial view of how to achieve your goals despite all the constraints.

If finances or logistics is a constraint or a major constraint, then one can resort to online learning, youtube videos and other learnings channels. What is important is that we take action and at the same time make ourselves accountable for our actions.

Deadlines.

We must set a deadline for completing the goal and share it within our network. Committing publicly to completing a particular goal creates pressure on us to accomplish the goal as planned and not postpone it.

Continuous learning.

If the goal is specific, we may feel tempted to let go once we have accomplished it. But, it is important to solidify, add to the learnings and keep evolving in the field.

If we have larnt a new skill or capability, it is important to practice it, refine it on an ongoing basis. This helps one to remain in touch and also get better at it. It also helps one gather experience in a variety of situations and become an authority in the chosen skill.

We are all busy with our work but at the same time, we need to find time to accomplish our goals, learn new skills to remain relevant in our work. it is often easy to put it off for another day. But if we want to accomplish what we have planned it is time to find ways of achieving it rather than push it away.
